Johnny gives priceless advice to Mickelson, Harrington and Kim, and educates us all on the Laws of Physics, according to Johnny, of course. I always think golf is really hard until I hear Johnny explain it. See, I thought it mattered where the face was aiming at impact, and I was also worried about the angle the club approached the ball from. Little did I know that all I had to do was return the shaft to 90 degrees to the target line at impact and I would start "driving it great". Where are the rest of the announcers when he comes up with this stuff? Will any of them ever stop him and ask something like "hey Johnny, isnt' that a bit of an oversimplification?". Or maybe, "Hey Johnny, you can't really tell if his hands are behind the ball at impact from that camera angle". Is that too much to ask?

  • Miller's tip is ridiculous.A good impact position is a result of a chain events stemming from the setup into the backswing then the transition and eventually into impact. Never mind the fact that a driver is swinging at +100mph for a tour player and to actually think 'i just need to get this back to square and everything will be dandy' is a joke. There are clear factors in the way a golf ball flies and for him to take such a simplistic approach is not only delusional but its plain silly.

  • @brh5934 Thank you for that comment. Precisely the point I think I made in the video, summarized nicely here.

  • @JAYMANNN9 Do you really think that Mickelson and Harrington somehow missed the fact that the clubface should be square at impact? You think they don't know how it "feels"? That's 7 majors between the two. I'm not surprised you totally get the essence of Miller's "tip". Sounds like it's right on your level. Oh yeah, and my wife calls me an arrogant, annoying tool all the time. You'll have to come up with something better if you want to hurt my feelings.

  • @superiorexercise You're right. What was I thinking? Miller is a genius.

  • Regarding the Golf Swing analysis videos, one very important aspect that necessitates further examination in consideration of their accuracy is the viewing angle position of the video camera in reference to the golfer's alignment towards the intended target line. It appears quite often that the viewing angle of the video camera is not positioned square with the golfer's intended target line which skews the actual perspective of all the other golf setup angles and golf swing angles. • Club-face Impact Position is Vital!

Johnny appropriately and simply states that returning the "aim" of the club-face back to square "at impact" is what ultimately determines the accuracy of a golf shot whether it's a tee shot, faiwary shot, bunker shot or roll of the putt? God knows one could use a basics reminder from time to time to keep it simple (K.I.S.S.) as one may tend to overcomplicate the golf swing. Gotta love Johnny's compassion for the benefit of fellow avid golfers. Love ~ jaime

  • I think the way golf is taught may be the part that needs to be simplified. I've started to do more research on the brain and how we learn, and the way a teacher chooses his/her's words is possibly the most important part of the learning process. If I stand on the teaching tee reciting my knowledge of the swing to an average player, it won't necessarily help them. If I expose them to an idea and allow them to arrive at the conclusion themselves, they keep that knowledge with them forever.

  • Hey Wayne,

Anyone who rips on you doesn't do enough research on the golf swing. These ex players should stop analysing player's swings, when they know very little about biomechanics and physics. They are reciting how they "feel" the golf swing and it can be totally different than how someone else interprets these feelings. I get pissed everytime I see these swing anaysis videos, especially when they break down the amateur swings at pro-ams. The ams look so insulted/sadenned after seeing it.

  • @ShakotanFC If you want to think golf is simple that's your deal. I've played tournament golf for 40 years and I can tell you it's anything but simple. And btw, my resume' is not that bad for someone who had his back fused at age 28. Golf is a struggle and is endlessly perplexing. Guys like Miller and Chamblee like to think of it as "simple" and that teachers like me "over-complicate" matters but if you had a chance to try to help some of the people I teach you might think differently.

  • @wdefrancesco Ya Wayne, i'm really surprised you don't jive with the essence of Miller's tip. If simple tips worked, where would PGA CLUB pros make any money on lessons? Keep it complex, Wayne.

  • @wdefrancesco Ur a legend in your own mind to the same degree Miller is. Except Miller actually has an impressive resume.

  • @ShakotanFC Exactly. Winning those tournaments allows Miller to say whatever stupid stuff he wants to and people like you listen to it and say "oh, there goes Johnny telling it like it is". Good for you. I'm sure Johnny's swing advice will give you just what you deserve. And I mean that in a positive sense.
