AMD touts the performance of their APU's but if you are trying to get the most performance per dollar out of a desktop, or Gaming Laptop, APU is not right for you. APU's are no different than Intel's Mobile Processors with Integrated Graphics. Putting one in a Desktop just seems silly. You can see small gains in OPENCL optimized games, but not as much as you would see if you had a dedicated GPU.

Intel Mobile Processors can be paired with dedicated Nvidia GPU's to give you a hybrid that offers better battery life. This is the route I chose, and based on the price and performance at posting, I would pick an Intel solution over the AMD.
