Short clip of NIR DEMU 8458 departing Larne Town towards the Harbour station. Lovely old EE 4SRKT devices, enjoy while you can, replacements in the form of more CAF type DMU's are out to tender. I got bowled by one of the C3000's on the way home....

  • @FallenAngel1309 Well dude as far as I can tell those engines are still in Service between Belfast and Larne :)

I saw one quite recently when I visited N. Ireland. What a growler :)

  • Easily the best 450 vid here. Beautifully captured sound.

  • Goodness, you all still have "Thumpers" in NI?

  • That's all it is really, they have the same engine, but traction motors and generators aren't the same as ours were on the 201s.The 450s have the guts from the old now scrapped 70 class, hence the newish look but old sound!

  • sounds like a BR Class 201!

  • I commuted for a year from Belfast (York Road - R.I.P.) to Larne on those sets in 1992-3. Great memories.

  • Great sound to that train.

  • the 450s are a living history railway experience the r.p.s.i should be given one to keep at whitehead before the go to the big train yard in the sky!

  • god i used to get that train to tech, is it still alive?

  • Very nice.
