@shlomofeuerwerk I don't "compare" cowboys and indians" with the nazis. I just dared to mention how ugly it is and how disguisting, if everything, which is written about austrians is: nazis, nazis, nazis... like every silly person who would only have clichés in mind of/about any state ;-). I hope, you got my point, now. and don't turn it into the exact opposite, as before (thanks for NOT doing so ;-)).
so THIS was my point. besides: I haven't been even alive in WW2. for me, this is history.
You are going to compare "cowboys and Indians" with the Nazis? Yes the first thing I thought when seeing this was how "ironic" that 2 years later the Austrian Nazis would take over and destroy the beautiful Vienna we see in this documentary. The Viennese were "cruel". Worse than Germany.
Actually, Vienna wasn't too badly knocked around by WW2, being out of range for the RAF until very near the end. Compared with Warsaw and Berlin it got off very lightly.
I don't quite see the connection between Hitler and Vienna: he only lived there for about five years and always hated the place. I believe he had vague plans to demolish most of it and rebuild it as a "true Germanic"city once the war was over.
@shlomofeuerwerk You are old enough to remember Austria in the 1930's? Did you live there ?

@shlomofeuerwerk I agree, the viennese are just morbid and cynical swine.

Interesting to see the traffic on the left. So no it isn't a British invention to be different! And no, the film isn't the wrong way round either.

Well in 1936 you saw beggars in the streets which you don't see now.

...Fortunately he never had the chance.

It's not as beautiful now as it was then.
Wonderful movie, I totally like it.
