From C-SPAN coverage of the House floor 3/10/10, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) remarks on withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan. He criticized the press gallery for extensive coverage of ex-Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) while virtually ignoring the debate on the floor over war and peace.

  • the media is such a failure

  • Amen to Kennedy. The defunct press has given this corrupt administration a pass on a whole range of issues.

  • now somewone told me i cant believe i heard ahh this <<<---- hahahahhaha

  • If Kennedy would only sober up he would blame Obama. He's got us in deeper

  • Someone said he seemed like he was on the verge of crying the whole time. All I can say is that I probably would be too if I had to deal with a media that refuses to cover the things that really matter and which effect everybody in this country. Why is there no in-depth coverage of the war in Afghanistan? Ignoring the problem isn't going to fix anything and it's sickening. Rep. Kennedy probably felt as if his actions here were pointless and no change would come from it. Which is what happened.

  • @tlarch You are clueless about real life, and probably never been to Canada or you'd respect Canada's style of government more than you do. My wife is a Canadian/American who has often used Canadian health care and has nothing but good to say about it. I've been with her for some of these including surgery, and I agree. And what's really nice is, nobody in Canada has to go bankrupt over health care bills. What a concept!

  • gee I wish my daddy was a kennedy. then I could be a drunken congressman too!

  • Of course he didn't vote for us to pull out of Afghanistan you idiots. He said at the beginning of his speech that he was for taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan but he's upset because our troops are being screwed over by Obamas new ROE and the strategy being used there. He's also pissed because the media and the American people don't really care about the struggle our military is slogging through in Afghanistan.

  • Seemed like he was on the verge of tears the entire time.

  • @UnderseaCaveman HA! You're RIGHT of course! Thanks for chiming in USCM. i think what spurred my sending this, even so late after the fact, is because of all the tripping going on right now about tea'baggers' and how the republican-hacks have absconded with the tea party. Whether true or not I feel there's too little attention by the democraps toward recognizing their serious flaw in letting a majority in the house stifle their anti-war sentiments.

  • @anyusmoon1 Was a great speech, save the part where he asserts to the effect "we need to put our troops in other lands with higher priorities"...

Of course, we (you and me, and other like minded) have a different perspective that goes like:

"We have 700 bases in 130 countries around the World , WHY"????

    "JUST BRING'em HOME"...

"No INTERVENTIONISM, let's talk and trade with them"

    (various quotes from Ron Paul)
