"The poll, constructed by Dartmouth government professor Benjamin Valentino and conducted by YouGov from April 26 to May 2, found that fully 63 percent of Republican respondents still believed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. invaded in 2003. By contrast, 27 percent of independents and 15 percent of Democrats shared that view...".* Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz discuss on The Young Turks.

Even 15% is a depressing statistic for this poll. Shows how powerful our government's propaganda truly is.

It's funny how those who are most pro-war are almost always the guys who never had to fight in one.

Yes, but you see the double meaning that TYT is using. Cenk has himself distanced himself from that movement, *again*, this year.
If you're going to hate on him, just because of the name that he chose, you might as well win one of his contests, go to their studio, and demand he change it.

and those so-called "reformers" became mass murderers. everyone calls them reformers, and its true they brought modernization to Turkey- in the same way the Stalinists bought modernity to Russia- by massacring anyone who opposes them.

"The show's name is derived from the English-language phrase "Young Turk", meaning a reformist or rebellious member of an institution, movement, or political party [8] - a phrase that originated as a characterization [sic] of a Turkish nationalist movement in the early 20th century."

To be clear- I was calling the maker of this TV program a hypocrite, not the political movement from which he took the name. (Ataturk is brutal but not inconsistent, same is true of many tyrants.) and i call Cenk Uyghur a hypocrite for denouncing Israel oppression in Palestine, while having a name for his program (YoungTurks) that suggests support for what historically was a very racist and repressive political movement, (even though it is glorified in the west now for being secular.)

self-coined? "The Young Turks" is a term over 100 years old. it was the Young Turks' political movement that committed the worst crimes of the end of the Ottoman empire (genocide against Armenians), and that then formed the government of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 (which is based on denial of self-determination to Kurdistan.)

There wasn't a hint of sarcasm in that comment.
And if you knew what their name meant, you wouldn't think they were hypocrites. Though...I believe their name might be self-coined.
