AFRS Jubilee 122 February 26, 1945 I would like to thank Jazzman for the audio. Eddie Green as he appeared as the timid Detective in Mr Adams Bomb (sic Mr Atoms Bomb) 1949. Ernie Bubbles Whitman as he appeared in The Beulah Show 1950, Blues In the Night 1941, Green Pastures 1936, Prisoner of Shark Island 1936. Many general clips from movies acted, written and directed by Spencer Williams. Edgar Ulmers Moon Over Harlem has priceless establishing shots of lighted advertised around Harlem circa 1939. One Meatball was written by Louis Singer and Hy Zaret in 1945. It is similar to other songs (The Lone Fish Ball) and its roots may even go back as far as the Civil War.

  • Has anyone got a history of Ernie Whitman , how he got started in the business ,

trying to find info regarding his MCing on loads of jazz recording sessions from the past , also his film work.

  • @sdfnjss I don't have a bio of Ernie Whitman but google Ernest Whitman IMDb and you will find a lot of information. You can also click on the swipnet link in the info box for information about the Jubilee shows. Post a message if you do find a bio of Ernie.

  • without the internet my kids a nd grand kids would never get to here this . i m 56 and never heard this version

  • Eddie Green was beloved by millions of Americans who knew him as "Eddie the Waiter" on the Duffy's Tavern radio show (which was the basis of the "Cheers" TV show.) Eddie was a marvelous talent and I know he would have been just as successful today. Thanks for not letting him be forgotten. And who knew Ernie & Eddie could sing jazz too? Their jazz/comic timing is superb in this clip! This may be the best version of "One Meatball" ever recorded!
