I must reveal my deep, dark secret. I'm disabled. But not mentally! Only physically. Other people seem to think that my condition, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, would be debilitating and consume my life, but that's totally not true. In this disability awareness video, I explain my condition, Osteogenesis Imperfecta. It's a genetic condition, meaning I've had it all my life, and it causes my bones to not produce enough collagen. Bones are made from collagen and calcium, and therefore, there is too large a ratio of collagen to calcium. Calcium is like chalk, and so Osteogenesis Imperfecta bones are like chalk. Yeah, it sucks.
But I don't let it get me down! Even after over 45 fractures and 15 surgeries, I'm still a happy, glad person. Also, I haven't had a fracture in about 4 years, for which I am very thankful.

Neil the Nerd is a new video blog showcasing awesome and nerdy ideas. It's basically just me, Neil Wacaster, sounding off about the stuff that matters to me. Please subscribe if you like the show!
In essence, the point of this disability awareness project about Osteogenesis Imperfecta is that I choose to use my mind to further great purposes. In my mind, disability means possibility. Disabled people are just the same as you, except that we have more challenges to overcome. Please don't take part in disability discrimination, because that hurts everyone involved. If someone you know needs it, please send them this disability awareness video!
I hope that this disability awareness video has raised your level of disability awareness. If it has helped you become more aware about disability, please send it to a friend and help raise their disability awareness!

@Rashida6891 OK, your comment made me LOL, for real. I just laughed out loud. XD
Yes, another thing that comes with the condition is being double jointed. That's why I was able to do that.
Maybe I should show you guys how I can put my foot behind my head... no. Too creepy.
Your comments are interesting and funny. Please keep watching the vlog and subscribe!
