  • @AllAmerican218, @Deddshot If you're interested in playing with this, visit our website. You can download the Free Community Edition. Instructions for use are included in the SDK/Documentation folder of that edition, and we're providing support in the Activate3D-ICM Google Group.

  • When you move your hand near an object which can be grabbed, are you having it automatically grab with that hand?

Disengaging looks like it works on the basis of comparing the theoretical physical stress for moving the body to follow one hand or the other.

I ask because this I've been working on something which would solve the "navigation/selection/interaction" problem.

  • @Maginomicon The engagement and disengagement you see in this video is done with an algorithm that does indeed infer the users intent, but that's all I can say :) I demonstrate it again in another video, watch?v=6NVRIRVqRSQ. However, we also have a computer vision based approach. Dan shows it off here, watch?v=HfeKsOcGbwo.

  • Really great. Would love to see a full virtual world made with this sort of tech, even if it might get a bit exhausting to move your arms like that to move. I can picture a grand theft auto-type open world using this being really fun

  • @bingobangobracken Thanks :) We have a slightly larger world that's more or less a giant obstacle course we use for testing new feature (the objects you can interact with) ideas. watch?v=gIM48eSVKl0. I wish youtube would let me embed youtube links in comments...

  • AWESOME. I didn't know the Kinect was such an superb piece of equipment :D

  • @Activate3D Great work so far, I look forward to your future projects. Could you perhaps post more detailed instructions as to how to use your beta. Thanks for the next great innovation -Sorrien

  • @roidroid Power is a relative term. The Wii's controls are simpler and the Wii is designed to handle them. The Kinect's controls are extremely complex and the 360 was not designed initially to handle them. Therefore the 360 must process all the extra load of the Kinect with it's CPU. So Microsoft says that Kinect can keep CPU usage in the single digits. However Kinect games have sluggish and simple gimmicky controls just like all the shovelware on the Wii does. I believe what I see.

  • @Maginomicon *subbed*

  • Any download links for this? I would love to figure out how to set this up and mess around with it.

  • @OldsXCool i was under the impression that the 360 was more powerful than the Wii (?)

    This is not the case?

  • @Activate3D the closest thing to embedded youtube videos, may be video responses.

  • @Activate3D Throw in swords, bows, some magic etc...with 1000's of people in an online virtual world and you have a MMO that would be the most immersive out there. This could help millions of fat gamers everywhere shed the lbs.
