The day Ashton-under-lyne lost its heart. Approximately 0310am on this fateful day i awoke to find the bedroom an orange glow, thinking i was still asleep i soon realised something was very very wrong. On looking out of the bathroom window i saw the inferno that quickly engulfed the whole of the market hall. Firecrews were already there tackling the blaze, i quickly got my camera knowing one day it will be viewed.

  • I can't think for one moment why anyone would burn down this iconic building that embelished the heart of Tameside. If anything it was a flaw of the material and fire safety that was at fault. A shame that it burnt down i loved that place and the new market hall is good and by sheer accident has brought back some of what we had. Long live this market hall.

  • @heresjohny32 ha no way im good friends with Adam ill let him know you said high.

i was just remembering Adam saying that they lost like 20-30 grand during this fire. yes total games is still there.

  • Probably set on purpose for the council or some one high up, like Gorton tub was. Sadly the powers that be here in the UK can do that and no one says anything. It makes you wonder about other things such as terror attacks...

  • @mondayslaskar Lol i always call it Trashton :)

  • @2008Sameoldfitup They say it was an electrical fault. Im not 100% convinced though...

  • My Nan was heart broken, and so was I. She used to shop there with her friend. But still, the have rebuilt it, so that's good!

  • Was that an accident? I wonder.

  • I got very emotional watching this video, I'm just glad that the building was saved and is now open as a market once again.
