Opening her 1st US Tour in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Lira, South African musical sensation shares a morning doing an empowerment presentation with female students of St. Croix's public, private and parochial schools! Lira was the opening act for Hugh Masekela's return to the Virgin Islands in March 2011.
The Masekela-Lira production was organized and hosted by Reichhold Center for the Arts with supports from private and public sector sponsorship inclusive of the VI Council on the Arts. Lira's commitment to youth, women, education and humanitarian affairs were expressed in her presentation as a young woman speaking with younger women in our St. Croix and VI community. Her message was so well received that these young ladies listened, sang and participated attentively and gave their new "Big Sister" Lira a well-deserved standing ovation at the closing of the inspirational, motivational and empowering presentation!
