How to do green screen (Chromakey) editing in Final Cut Studio's Motion 4.
This will also work for Motion 3.

  • I'm curious, Zack, all of those moves can be done in FCP. What's the advantage of Motion?

  • @MobileMediaProducts When you start doing more complicated scenes with handheld shots or masking +chromakey, you will need to use a program like Motion. FCP is great for tripod chromakey and a few simple effects, but when you get into more advanced shots, then you need the tools in Motion.

  • can you please update this video to motion 5 and with more advanced features... thanks!

  • I have anamorphic 16:9 DV footage. It's dropping in to Motion 4. But there are 2 grey (transparent) boxes on the side of the footage. Like the program wants to hide the side but still reveal whats under them. It makes me concerned what the final render is going to look like. The completely visible portion looks like 4:3, but the original footage is DV NTSC anamorphic. I can't find that setting in motion, I can only find D1 Anamorphic. I selected that and that's what gave me stuff I mentioned

  • FinalCutKing Rules! Having Green Screen issue with FCP7 alone, but I have Motion 4 I'll drag this into. My office hasn't been able to update any of their software so I still have CS4 dated stuff.

  • @TheDom4224 thanks buddy!

  • hey zach can you use green screen for an endless white background?
