Connecting Threads: Lilies Among Thorns

The history of the Church begins in the Middle East and continues in Europe. Two centuries of mission relationships connect us to the people of the regions. We benefit and are enriched by these relationships. We are called to mission through Christ, in whom there is no East or West.

Today, all across the Middle East and Europe people are struggling against adversity and prejudice while clutching tightly to hope. They are truly Lilies Among Thorns.

This video takes a look at how Global Ministries (missionary work by United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ) works in close partnership with ecumenical and interfaith partners in Palestine, Hungary, Turkey and Germany to pull out the "thorns" and try to heal the scars of war and prejudice. Come with us on a journey as we encounter that mission. Watch, listen and study as partners and missionaries share the richness of their work. Along the way, you will see people and images that challenge common assumptions and inspire hope amid many challenges.
