Your car sounds great. I also have a 540i-6 sport and I am going to an American muffler setup. What is the exact setup? I am going to a Flowmaster Super 44 3" single in-out and a 3" bullet in place of heavy resonator. I have been a "purist" for a long time, but performance gains speak for themselves. Congrats for thinking outside of the box!

When you write resonator and muffler, you mean both the "tubes" at the back of the car (the other one a muffler, and the other one looks similar to the muffler)?

@SupraTompan ...Yes both "tubes" were removed. The Thrush was added to the very rear of car. The cats are still in place. Please note that the Thrush has welded seams, not crimped. Not sure if the cheaper crimped style would sound as nice. A Flowmaster would also sound great but the Thrush is much cheaper.

Agreed, my mustang does sound better but the 540 out performs the stang 10 fold. The solid rear axle on the stang is horrible. Surprisingly the 540 had lower times on autox. The stang is fun for doing burnies and doughnuts and disturbing the peace with side pipes but that's it.

The rear resonator and muffler are removed. I kept the resonator off and replaced the muffler with a Thrush. "Y "resonators and cats are still original. Thrush only cost around $40 bucks. Shop charged $45 to cut and install. Absolutely no need to buy another resonator. Have them run a piece of pipe leading to Flowmaster and you're done.
Had these Thrush mufflers laying around from my mustang side exit swap. Check my other vid.
