  • It looked as though the rope may have caught on your leg and flipped you ?

  • I'm the camera man, Oliver's the climber. Actually, he just leaned back without moving his feet - but he was above the bolt.

  • (Sport) leading outside without a helmet is really smart. The style points make up for the inevitable brain trauma.

  • Let's see, He let's go with his right hand, leans back, tries to grab the rope, the left foot is behind the rope which flips him as he falls/pushes off. Didn't check to see if his fall zone was clear before he fell. He knew he was going to fall, he should've taken the extra second to situate himself to fall safely instead of just pushing off the wall. And holy shit, wear a helmet.

  • @Achilleus30 Your bolt was right under your feet no more than five feet from your harness. You should not have come down that far. There was obviously way too much slack out.

  • That was terrible, nothing funny about it, and I'm still trying to figure out why he landed upside down...

I live a short walk from the Parking Lot Wall in Rumney, NH which brings 50 to a 100 climbers on a good summer weekend, and in all honesty, I'd be surprised if even half of the sport climbers where helmets.

  • youch

  • helmet + chest harness + try to jump of the wall

  • Gotta watch that rope.

  • Jump off and try to stay vertical, the temptation is to kick off hard with your feet, but if you start leaning back your gonna hurt yourself as you can see.

  • he caught his right ankle on the rope. There is no other way that he could have flipped that way unless he only tied into one of two of his hard points on his harness (bottom one). You can see his right ankle catch on the vid though. P.S. The most veteren climbers almost always wear helmets, doesn't matter if you think it looks lame or not. wearing a Helmet has saved my life, twice over.

  • watch the leg in the rope.. i slit my leg upen that way.
