  • Make a guide please!!!

  • @nikolito7 I'm afraid it's been quite a while since I did this work, and I don't remember all the gritty details.

I'd recommend a combination of the Bentley manual and wiring diagrams, searching and reading all swap related threads on vortex and tdiclub, and reading the posts on the "climatronic swap forum" (google for that, you'll find it).

    Good luck!

  • is it possible to just connect the climatronic unit and just use the digital display to increase/decrease the temperature and power of blowers? rather than set a temperature and get the car to maintain it?

  • Well, I'm pretty sure that even when you disengage the Auto mode, the system will still control the flap motors to maintain the temperature, but the fan control is entirely manual. Hope that helps!

  • how much does this procedure cost?

  • Paid about $100 for the AC discharge/recharge, ~$200 for the climatronic air handler, $100 for the head unit, and $100 for the Kufatec harness.

    So about $500 total.

  • Haha I think my regular manual VW controls work good enough... wow.

  • You can discharge it to the atmosphere, its just not legal. The R134 is greenhouse gas, what is 5 more pounds of greenhouse gas, the equivalent of a short drive.

  • I'm afraid the list of parts is way to long to list here. Please search for "climatronic swap" on vwvortex or tdiclub and I'm sure you'll be able to piece all of the info together there!

    Good luck!

  • Umm. I'm just amazed at all the work to get this done. Is there somewhere/could you create a list of all the parts needed and a step by step process to make this happen.. I've got the time, and could probably find the parts on ebay (cheaper than dealer) I just need some serious guidance. Thank you for considering and directing.
