I was going to do so much more to this. Obviously I was going to lay down other layers of instrument. There are long sections just FOR that, which are probably obvious.

But when I saw it in this form, I decided to post it as it is and appreciate it in a different way than I originally intended.

By the way, near the end my sister nearly falls of the stage, and you can hear her say "oh geez!".

And to think I almost edited that all out!

Obviously, this is an original piece...
This was personally challenging for me to do in front of people, but I'm really glad I did it. It led into the day of "busking" videos I've also posted on this trip.

I didn't have the nerve to sing here, however. :)

This was recorded on my Flip HD and is actually bits and pieces of two takes. My sister was kind enough to be the camera person. It was a fun little editing job (and I'm not being sarcastic...)

If you're not aware of it, check out the history of the Red Rock amphtheater, to see why I let it be a big deal to play there. :)

I have to admit adding a bit of reverb to this since I was compromising my original vision. :) - Maybe more than a touch.

I've shared this piece in audio form elsewhere with an earlier vision of what I'd like a completed version to sound like. If you're interested, it's here:

  • for some reason the "awesome" at the end really makes me laugh

    thanks

  • It makes me laugh too. In reality that is me saying awesome to their staged clapping, so was going to cut it out...but then it made me laugh too, so I left it in.

  • how long u been playing?

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • Wow my friend, you are a talented individual. Like your Dad I enjoyed the music and the visual. The first 25 seconds I imagined you were a blue man unmasked (compliment). My last visit to Red Rocks was to "see" the Dead. I imagine a lot there. Thank you for sharing...

  • I like it, I like it!

  • Beauitful. I love the rawness of it....how you can hear the children in the backround. Very cool!

  • Wow! very cool location !

Your sounds are enhanced the mood dramatically!

It is likely that Clint Eastwood or John Wayne will come !!!

  • outstanding, bob. rare opportunity and you captured it well.

  • Good decision Bob, it would have lost its immediacy if you'd added to it.
