I decided to start doing videos on this with how I felt yesterday afternoon.

I applied fonline for that security guard job yesterday. But yesterday afternoon, anxiety started kicking pretty bad afterwards and I was anxious about it until I fell asleep last night. But this morning, I think I realized the source of my anxiety issues.

But it's times like this that remind me of why I say that, at best, my SA is moderate bordering on severe (and is severe as according to something someone sent me) and why I wish I didn't have it. But I'm sure most of us do wish that one.

It's not working itself that concerns me. It's just getting there.

Either way, I'll be taking another application somewhere else tomorrow or the next day.

  • My job anxieties are the same. Actually working isn't the problem- It's the interview that worries me the most. My last job interview was about a year and a half ago and I don't really remember much of it but I did well enough to get the job.

  • Hopefully it's going to be like the presentations I had to do in college where once the whole thing actually started, it turned out the anticipation anxiety was pretty much worse thing about it and the actual thing itself turns out to be relatively easy to get through.

  • When I went for interviews in the past I would try to just feel like it was a dialogue or a conversation instead of a grilling ;) easier said than done though. Hope you get it and if you dont, there will always be opportunities out there for you.

  • I'll try getting myself to feel like that. Hopefully that will help. I hope I get it too because I think I'd really enjoy the job. But you're right. Even if I don't, there will be other opportunities out there.

  • Good luck. I hope you get it. And don't worry, interviews for jobs like that aren't bad at all. I know mine was mostly just written tests and such and a very very brief interview.

  • Thanks, so do I. I hope it won't be that bad (for any interview I'll have to do, at that). I think (and hope) it's going to turn out it was just the anticipation that was the worst thing.

  • Good luck with the job hunting, pal!

  • My anxiety got in the way working as a cashier. It was so uncomfortable. Medication helped for a while. I stopped working after about a year and I'm hoping to find something where I don't have to be as social. Night security sounds like a good idea. Hope it goes well.

  • Can't argue with that. That's really the best thing one can do, especially for stuff like this.
