Just to set things straight, in case you might have heard of that foolish action by an Austrian "pastafarian".

  • Why the 'you jerk' at the end?

  • @neoxl1973, because it is counter-productive what he did. We have real issues in this country with the church, but with such – ridiculous! – actions you give the "defenders of faith" an opportunity to point fingers at their critics and say, hey, look, the cannot be taken seriously; which is actually the last thing an atheist should do.

  • This video discriminates against Pastafarians!

  • @9753241860hb, ain't I a stinker ;-)

  • Ai laik yoor Oustrian Ekkzent. It reelie saunds fonnieh

  • @Griesmayer, yeah, well, whatever.

  • Your example inspires me

  • @GreatG0dOm, yes, I myself got baptised and was Roman Catholic - at least on paper, but the instant I turned 18 I went to the magistrate with my "Taufschein" (baptismal certificate) and got myself that respective stamp on it. That was all I had to do.

  • @ThatGuyFromAustria Mr. Zach, can someone get themselves removed from this Catholic list and required tax as an adult, if they do not consider themselves Roman Catholic? For example, someone may have been baptised and raised Catholic who later becomes an atheist (or non-Catholic) as an adult.

You are sure right, some parts of the US are full of creationists that even try to push their views into public school science classes.

  • @ThatGuyFromAustria: Well, I guess I have to give you that. I can't find the source of which I've learned that it was Dollfuss already. So I can't verify it and therefore I'll stick with the version that Hitler invented the Kirchensteuer. In fact that was what I had learned before and I was fairly surprised to read (from the now unretrievable source) that it's been Dollfuss originally.

And no worries! I'm not taking constructive critisism personally, I do welcome it in a decent discussion.
