So maybe "most" was a tiny overstatement, but one can hardly make the case that circumcision is a primitive practice the modern world has discarded.

Well maybe most was too strong considering world wide circumcision rates, but where I am from (USA) it is most. In Australia its still a rather high rate. Wikipedia states on Australian circumcision rates "The circumcision rate has declined sharply in Australia since the 1970s, leading to an age-graded fall in prevalence, with a 2000-01 survey finding 32% of those aged 1619 years circumcised, 50% for 2029 years and 64% for those aged 3039 years"
