I heard him in Recital in the early 60's in Chicago and not only did he sing very well with his beautiful lyric tenor but his middle voice sounded very much like Gigli . When I heard him in house he didn't use his piano tones as much but his voice even though not big did carry very well and could be heard anywhere in Orchestra hall, it had good focus even then when he was past his prime and the sound was very much like here.
