Nice classic car, Stanleys though are notorious for their use of water. You can't really drive far before you need to fill in with water again. I don't think Stanley ever did a car with a condenser, correct me if I'm wrong!
@Simpson654 The later Stanleys did have condensers, but they also had a lower power to weight ratio. The few built like this one were the hot rods of the fleet, so to speak, the muscle car of the day. The driver in this video has a nice 1919 Stanley that has a condenser. It is a much larger car and a blast to drive. Thanks, Glen
There was a steamer event in St. Louis? I wish I had known, I've always wanted to see a working steam car in person but have yet to get the chance. Where is this at? It kinda reminds me of the Ford Model T's around Richmond Indiana at the centennial last summer.
This was just south of Salina, Kansas! The heartlands! They are quite the car... there are many oddities, but the fuel pump driven off of an eccentric on the rear axle really surprised me. It has a rod that runs about four feet to the pump. You ever see videos of them with the right rear tire jacked up and the wheel spinning? That is what they are doing, using steam instead of the hand pump inside to pump up fuel pressure. Thanks for the nice comment....
Yes, they took the 1911 and Rex's 1919 and went to the St. Louis event. There was supposed to be around 15 Stanleys there. Oh, how I wish I could have gone!
