  • She had a better one earlier, but I didn't get that one on tape... :(

  • Try rounding up the horse before trying an extension, leaving the mouth alone and driving with your legs and seat! You actually had the horse cantering in the back, and somewhat trotting in the front. A nice try, but an extended trot needs to be ridden with more balance.

  • In my opinion this rider should not be attempting an extended trot when she is so unbalanced. She is leaning forward and holding onto the rein and the horses mouth for balance. The horse does not keep a rhythm and is allowed to break into canter, the rider then circles left when the horse is on it's right lead.

The rider is just a beginner and needs to establish a balanced seat and soft hands before attempting that again.

  • @stephanie2205 having the horse on the bit doesnt mean you are jamming it into a frame. i drive my horse from behind into an even contact, not forcing her to put her head down, and also do a lot of leg yielding to get her soft and accepting the bit.. im not strong and if my horse didnt want to be accepting the bit, she wouldnt, but with gentle persuasion the horse will go on the bit, accepting the bit and will actually ride better, it makes the horse go better!

  • The trot is a two-beat gait. Just sayin.

What's with the left-right-left-right-left-right instructions? Just say no to see-sawing. I would find a new instructor and FAST.

  • its not an extended trot its a canter hah

  • this video is two years old people, get over your obsession with training people over the internet.

  • There is a comment box here for a reason. A horse should never be 'on the bit' a horse should be forward, soft, swinging from behind and in a NATURAL, COLLECTED FRAME. 'On the bit' is a false frame, which is the rider jamming the horses head down in an unnatural way. If a beginner is taught solid, correct basics then when it comes to more advanced moves, they will understand how to get the best out of the horse. I'm not playing instructor, I am voicing my opinion - as are you with your comment.

  • Why are you playing instructor? What do you get out of it? The horse here isn't even on the bit. It's not worth it to sit here and go 'well blah blah blah the rider circles left blah blah'

  • Me too, it wasn't even an extended trot, more like the horse running along in front and cantering in the backlol.

  • i agree....

  • same here, but i guess its to help with the rhythm like 1 2 1 2

my mare goes much better in sitting trot in her extension but she has learned to keep her rhythm so she doesn't rush.

  • Wow very pretty horse
