Viking vs. Samurai : Thrand's Fighting and Bonus Video

Thrand was told all he does is tap fights he wanted to show you that's not true. Steel fighters Hit with control not to kill each other .SCA fighters go full force with rattan swords. It has been recognized as extreme fighting with weapons as a sport fighting martial art. . Set back enjoy the fun of all out fighting with long swords and shields in armor.This is by no means saying Steel fighting is not a good and viable way to practice and I Enjoy it as well but I have no local group at the time you should do both :P

@newmemberish I did not pull down my pants Eldgrimr did so you could see how badly his leg was bruised from the Rattan swords we use in the SCA. Why? because this Video was made in response to people accusing of as being like LARPer's who use foam weapons and we are not and do not use foam Weapons. Every Weapon we use requires real Armor to protect us are we would experience injury's and Death from this sport :P

Good stuff. Nice video. Just to point out that I have had bruises as bad as that from blunt steel fighting, dare I say also much worse. Though I suppose you have too. Blunt steel fighting, the weapon is supposed to be pulled on contact, though not many people can do it well. Fighting is fighting in my opinion. If the weapon is hitting you it does something. Keep up the good work.

@deadlylock Oh, I'm not gonna argue with you there; in "LARP" (specifically Dagorhir), we have a different definition of "tap-fighter". I wasn't saying that we hit nearly as hard as you guys do, but I think we hit harder than tap-fighters. :)

i hate to say it, but ihave YET to see a LARPer who is able to shatter both forearm bones through steel plate bracers and chainmail. not to be a dick, but to us, other than the live steel organizations (generally you have to have years of practice with a blade to use live steel) everyone else is considered tap fighting. I personally witnessed one of my buddies take a wrap that took his shield, but aparently the dude hit kinda hard, thus shattering bones.

You need to reassess what you think a "LARPer that uses foam weapons" (ie. you apparently think we all hit like weak-armed bitches). It's absolutely and totally false. The only real "tap-fighters" that I see tend to be cross-gaming Amtgard fighters, or from smaller organizations.
