not only that Nas still plays real hiphop/rap whereas Jay-z still makes hype songs more like entertainment hiphop. If u look at Jay-z's lyrics today u can ask real good highschool rapper to write something similar whereas Nas his stuff is a lot more complex. The beef was pretty much Nas>JAy from the beginning young jay-z just got pissed cuz nas wounld't work with him whereas nas was like i dont wanna work with him im too busy.

@BigShadyTV Jay-Z's only real rap album is Reasonable Doubt.
Nas still makes real rap with real people whereas Jay-z gets his entertainment sound crew to make hype up music.

@ray2bus nas fell off the hip hop seen after illmatic due to his mums cancer and he was cheating on his girlfriend = relationship problems. Jay z was coming up and taking over new york's hip hop scene but wanted to be reknown as NY's greatest but felt like he was still judged under nas' shadow and thought it was unfair because Nas had only produced one hit album whereas Jay z was producing hits constantly. The beef would have occured regardless of whether jay z was sleeping with Nas' girfriend.
