The symptoms you have describe about price level increasing and rising unemployment rate in the US is possible a left ward shift of the aggregate supply curve. What is happening is that the negative supply shock induced has caused stagflation; hence, casuing the price level to increase and GDP to decrease (a decrease in GDP = increase in unemployment) in the short-run.
