SCHOOL BUS ENDS UP IN SHIDLER LAKE (ALSO KNOWN AS PHILLIPS LAKE ON MOST MAPS)

Onlookers at the lake said they were told the bus was taken from Shidler Public Schools Friday night and taken on a joyride into the lake. A diver went to check the bus and started getting cramps and came back out and then the Osage County Sheriffs Office School Resource Officer went in next and made it about half way to the bus and he went under and didn't resurface. He was pulled from the lake and CPR was performed until paramedics arrived and he was taken by ambulance to Ponca City Medical Center and miraculously was released at 5:30pm Saturday evening. To make matters worse the OCSO Resource Officer had 3 broken ribs when he attempted to make the dive and check out the bus.

The tow truck wasn't able to retrieve the bus and a second attempt will be made Sunday and OHP's Lake Patrol will be present then as well.

Shidler/Phillips Lake is 1.5 miles south of Shidler in Osage County.

yep, I personally shot the video and it was there for at least 3 days I know of before a dive team finally got in to make sure nobody was in it. A deputy who is a diver went in when it was found and had a small hole in his wet suit and ended up drowning after becoming so cold and then going in and out and then couldn't make it out. He wask saved by another deputy and then CPR was performed on him on shore and he was taken to the ER and then released later that night.

Well, my understanding is someone took the bus late at night and drove it into Lake Shidler. I do believe its being investigated as a possible theft of the bus.

I think they are guessing they jumped out before the bus hit the water.

Correct, no children but the deputy that is also a diver that was sent in to check the following day to see if anyone was in the bus drown but was revived on the shore of the lake. He was back to work the following day after spending a few hours at the hospital.
