I want to know the same thing, im a 36 year old male with spina bifida, i am unable to bring children into this earth nor can addopt a child because my health may pose a hazard to a child, yet, i long to help out an orphan so very much, what can I do to make a child happy, i want to feel needed and also want to feel the love of a little child so much, the fact that i cant have kids of my own to love really torches me. :(
@TreseMari Are you familiar with a volunteer-based organization called CASA? People from the community can apply to be volunteer court appointed advocates for kids in foster care. You could likely become an advocate for an older youth and pay attention to what is happening in their life as they prepare to transition out of the system. Check out the National CASA website to find a program near you. Thanks for caring!
It's our responsibility and privilege, as fellow Americans, to to take action. What can those of us who are not able to adopt (due to disabilities, either financial and/or physical), do to help out? I am especially concerned about those who have already become adults, and lived in the foster system through adulthood, and don't have "families".
