I don't understand what's he so proud of. The rest of the world is so much mature than USA. It has women as presidents and leaders who work for their own country instead of going to war against nations for their oil. Yep, the rest of the world can be "jealous" of US all it wants.

I don't know really. Can you imagine a person of Indian descent as Prime Minister of the UK? And even if you can, you'll never see one on the British throne :) Nor will you ever see a Turkish Federal Chancellor in Germany (Turks are the biggest minority here). And those are pretty harmless examples... think of a Palestinian as Prime Minister of Israel, or a Kurd as President of Turkey. So as much as I agree with you on the war & oil issue, Obama's election really was a big step for mankind.

I agree with you on some parts of your above comment, but not "obama's election really was a big step for mankind." As i said before, the world has seen women, to old people, to young ones get elected and move on so i don't know how Obama being elected was any different. Sure it was history making in USA but i don't see how it's historical in world view. Also, what you said about Indian descent as PM of UK, depends really if that person is born/citizen of UK. Women in leading positions is an old hat since Queen Cleopatra. Maggy Thatcher and Angela Merkel didn't really achieve anything remarkably new there. But a member of a racial minority getting elected by a white majority? And not only that, somebody who started out as a member of the lower middle class and worked his way up to the top, in a country where the odds still are...used to be... stacked against people of his race / social class? That's a first. I know that it couldn't happen in Germany
