I have a cousin that topped three bills at thirteen years old. Her mother works out often, but has little parenting skills, and has said that her mother used to 'compete' with her about weight. I've often wondered if the mother doesn't have munchausen issues going on. I'm all for programs, but in this instance, who's going to take her, or make her go? If we're actually talking about taking children away, if it's anything like our foster care system, it could only do more harm. Nice video.

The state should get involved when a child is largely overweight.... sending them to programs to teach them how to eat right, maybe exercise classes... parenting classes that include how to feed your child and get him/her to exercise.... only after all these efforts prove fruitless, THEN and only then do I think the state should step in and take the child into foster care. Even then, the goal should be to save the child's life while STILL trying to teach the family lifestyle changes.

@ShyCutieBaby I envy you.
I'm 14 and work out for 4 hours a day to stay slim. I love sweets, cake, chocolate, ice cream (oh god YUSH) and.... well, food with fat gravy's, grilled meat, pasta, schnitzel...
but I can only eat it on special occasions~

Oh hell NO that is NOT right
I say no- children shouldn't be taken away. What doesn't help is many families struggling for healthy food. Fresh fruit in my house is only wish half the time because we don't have the $6 for apples. :/
But yes, many people are concerned with the diets, and we're rectifying that in schools. But what about exercise? Hard for children in k-8 to lose weight when schools are cutting recesses and P.E. courses for testing.

it's true. My cousin almost exclusively eats junkie foods like McDonalds and Mr Sub and A&W, and he's skinny as a pencil. Now granted, his day job does involved a lot of physical work which probably helps, but then that should =bulk, =weight, but I'm heavier than him by almost 30 pounds, I'm neither fat nor bulky in the slightest. Higher metabolisms are a huge factor, and sometimes being is hard to control. But in situations where it can be helped, it most certainly should.
