I know how beneficial berries are to one's health, and I absolutely LOVE all of them, especially raspberries, but they are hideously expensive! (at least in Maine, where I live) I simply cannot afford them. Same with nuts. The same 12 ounce bag of walnuts that cost $4.00 two or three years ago, is now $9.00. It's a lot easier to eat healthy if money is no object.
I found this video very helpful. My diet consist of all of these foods. I have to be careful with the yoghurt and beans. I think you should also mention wheat grass. I take a shot everyday for overall health.
My husband had necrotizing pancreatis over a year ago with a major cyst on his pancreas afterward. The doctors said he would be fully diabetic on insulin and taking digestive enzymes the rest of his life. Thank the Father he is doing great now, however we can tell his pancreas is still weaker than it was before he got sick. I'm so excited to have found this video. I'm working hard to change out eating habits to prevent him from developing diabetes if possible and this info helps a lot. Thanks!
Regarding some items listed ... It's VERY important diabetics TEST their blood sugars before/after eating ANY fruits or yogurts, and especially beans and oatmeal... Many of us find we cannot tolerate beans/oatmeal without moving our sugars into unhealthy post-meal levels.
Steel-cut oats (less-refined) seem to have less of a spike than quick or regular oatmeal. Full-fat yogurts are usually better to blood sugar than low-fat, also. Try greek yogurt.

I'm not allowed grapefruit, there is an enzyme in it that affects my asthma medication, it prevents the drug from working correctly.

Berries are lower-glycemic than melon.
