Apparently the Army had grand plans to use Elvis for entertainment purposes. He said something along the lines of, fuck that--you got my ass but I'll do straight time as a grunt. There was a fair amount of conjecture regarding whether or not he could salvage his career when released from the military. Two years is a space of time in pop culture. Sam Phillips had been delighted to sell EP's contract to RCA for $30,000--he figured he had a long line of Elvises banging on the door of 706 Union.

And I was not being mean to anyone, just attempting to correct YOUR mistakes ! FYI, My G'ma passed away in 1995, and I'm NOT negative or angry about anything ,other than misinformed people always dissing on Elvis! @trei3000 Elvis NEVER did drink Alcohol! And he only smoked those little cigars , occasionally! And everyone cusses once in awhile, especially when they are angered about something!
