  • One flaw in this : The application of a set of rules is not without the need of a subjective element which must interpret the rule and whether 'this' is a situation in which to apply this rule. The immediacy of a computer program qua seamless determination of action does not happen. The appeal to the rule is nonetheless an alibi of a subject seeking ethical pacification.

  • @notonewhit Steiner calls this translation from principle to a specific action "moral imagination". A principle can have the effect of a computer program if you are restricted to a single principle such as "the greatest good" or a set of principles such as those of a group. You still have to translate the principle into a specific action, but you are restricted by the set of principles. More freedom would remove this restriction so you were free to select any ethical principle, outside the group

  • ...moral relativism....toxic

  • @UniversalBrother108 Subscribe on the link above the video to get the upcoming series. Yes, it relativism based on this single video, but it is the beginning of a series that will develop an ethics that is much more. It is hard to explain an involved philosophy in 2.5 minutes, but hard to hold the attention for much more, so I plan to do many short videos.
