My Father used to make these little dancing dolls, they were great, kept us entertained for hours as kids.....before colour TV's arrived....fond memories !!!!

The wooden item Jean is playing is a percussion instrument called a limberjack or jig doll. It has its origins in Europe and can be found in the Appalachia and Ozark cultures of the US. My grandfather, from Missouri, played one for me when I was child in the 1970s.
