Hajj - Step04 - 8th of Zilhajj - Sa'ii

Day01 - step 04 - 8th of Zilhajj sa'ii (walk between 'as-Safaa' and 'al-Marwah' mountains)

1. Perform Sa'ii. Ascend as-Safa and walk towards al-Marwah is considered one lap. Perform seven laps.

2. Climbing Safa and Marwah and making supplications for one's material and spiritual well being and welfare is encouraged.

3. During the supplications one should face Ka'bah.

4. Go through the Safa gate, and on approaching Safa, recite the Qur'anic verse 2.158 "Verily, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah" and then say "I begin with what Allah Himself began"

5. Climb Safa until you could see the Ka'bah.

6. Face the Ka'bah, thrice proclaim Allah's Oneness, glorify Him, praise Him, and then say,

a. "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. He has no partners. To Him belong the kingdom and all praise. He alone grants life and causes death. He has power over all things. There is no God but He. He has fulfilled His promise, given victory to His servant, and He alone defeated the confederates." Say it three times. Or glorify Him using one of the following supplications or similar.

7. Then walk toward Marwah. Make any of the du'as as you have done at as-Safaa or choose one of the followings:

a. O Allah! Pardon (us), have mercy, forgive that which You know (about us) and you are the Most Powerful and Most Noble.


8. Climb Marwah, until you could see the Ka'bah. There you make supplications as you had at Safa.

a. O Allah! You have said 'Call Me and I shall respond to your call.' Verily, You do not break Your promise. O Allah! I pray that just as You guided me to Islam, so divest me not of it until the day you cause me to die.


9. Leave for Mina (one of the ceremonial shrines, a valley near Makkah). Make the following or similar du'a:

O Allah! It is You I hope for and You I pray to so make me fulfill my good goals, forgive me my sins, favor me as You have favored Your obedient ones. Surely, You have power over everything.
