"...they are endowed by their creator..." - A favorite quote of Christians to say the Declaration of Independence is a Christian-based document.
But notice the use of the word "creator." Notice it doesn't say "Yaweh,' or "Jehovah" or even "God." They knew very well when drafting this document that "creator" has a much more open and universal definition than the others. They did this because they wanted Reason and evidence to be authority and not faith (no matter how sincere) or dogma.
"These truths are self-evident" - This is a clear example of an enlightenment and age or reason type of understanding. Notice that the Declaration of Independence doesn't say, these truths are God given, or "Revealed by God (or Spirit)." No, they are saying these truths are evident to anyone who values reason and simply looks at what we find here on earth when you look around- that good morality does not rely on the specific belief in any one deity.
US liberty is granted first by a creator at birth & only recognized and upheld by the US constitution as a birth-right as such. Why, because if mere men or documents alone granted you liberty only a mere man or document can take it away! This distinction from American Liberty & why all men are created equal, evolution surly does not teach this but Christianity does. The basic notion of American liberty & freedom for all is by a God-given birth-right & a non-secular view historically.
America was built on the foundation of religious freedom, not the Bible.

I agree but the demographics of America have changed, and the country as it is now constituted doesn't seem to care.

What is the source of our laws?
The US Constitution...and that document doesn't mention God, Jesus or the Bible.
