When it comes to choosing a CoQ10 supplement, the primary factor is how many swallowed milligrams actually make it into your bloodstream. Coenzyme Q10 is a notoriously difficult nutrient to absorb. A recent study showed that in seriously ill patients, conventional ubiquinone CoQ10 was hardly detectable in the blood, whereas the new ubiquinol resulted in significant blood level increases and subsequent clinical improvements.

  • I am a member of life extensions with mag etc and I live not far from the store in Fort Lauderdale--- and I get coq10 from mercola 100 mg. Which is better--his stuff or yours? Should I just take both? Also the free radicals I believe are essentially positive ions--missing an electron from the valence shell--but can a person antioxidize themselves to death?--we use oxygen and Mercola has mentioned briefly about "dont overantioxidize yourself--that there is a limit? thanks

  • @phantomvibrationsX What matters to Life Extension is that you supplement with the Ubiquinol form. Mercola’s CoQ10 is a high quality Ubiquinol and a good product. As far as “over-antioxidation” is concerned…there is no such thing. Most antioxidants are water soluble and have short bio-availability (they don’t last in the bloodstream) and need to be taken daily.

  • I'm deaf. Wish you would add open captions to your videos so that deaf people can get the benefits of what you are saying.

    Thanks!

  • @deafiegb Thank you for your comment. We are working with YouTube in enhancing the captioning on most of your videos. Machine captioning has been requested for this video and should be available in the future.

  • Nice, use it myself.

  • this article intrigues me i want to learn more on this and maybe ge some greal article guy's thanks Q10 Ubiquinol.

  • Smartbodyz has great articles on CoQ10 Ubiquinol.

  • what age should you start taking coq10? I've read 30s or 40s, but I'm 22 so I was just curious.

  • Can you over-antioxidise with natural antioxidants? If this was possible, there would be a genetic disease condition caused by making too many AO enzymes (which are much more potent than small molecules). To date, there seems to be no such condition, people with more genes for AO enzymes have less disease.

The essential free radical is nitric oxide - antioxidants INCREASE levels of good nitric oxide from eNOS, decrease bad NO from iNOS. Antioxidants also help immune cells make free radicals.

LEF is a decent brand and they have a good reputation.Mind that there is lots of hype around Coq10. Current research supports CoQ10 to treat heart patients as well as treat patients who take statin drugs. But there is little evidence to support CoQ10 for Anti aging or healthy individuals.
