-From, "I MALAMONDO" (Italy, 1964)

"This documentary looks at strange behaviors and practices in Europe, including nude skiing in Switzerland, hot-butchering in Italy, and an orgy in a graveyard." -imdb.com

One of Ennio's first film soundtracks, the diverse score is a virtual blueprint of the many styles he'd perfect in the next few years. In this swinging samba, (whistler/ guitarist/ singer) Alessandro Alessandroni throws in a hilarious vocal that puts the song in the groove.

  • He is in a class by himself... there are so many layers to his compositions.. which can range from deeply melancholic, agitated, suspenseful or sensual moods to a cacophony of unexpected rhythmic transitions and sounds, beneath layers of atmospheric femenine vocals. All of these can unravel in but one of his compositions!

  • Is this movie cool? Anyone?

  • A Puerto Rican comedian, Shorty Castro, used to do silent sketches had this song as a backdrop -the first section in a loop. Deadpanned pranks, like taking ladders off a wall while the painter on top hang from a chandelier. Excellent backdrop for comedy.

  • Wait. Are you sure this is a documentary and not a type of exploitation film called Mondo?

  • Ennio is the man! By chance do you know where I can get the album Malamondo? My father's has sum mileage on his. Thanks!!!

  • Awesome!!

  • Henry Mancini: Moon River, Theme from Hatari, Pink Panther--all time classics.

  • Henry Mancini is also very good, I think.
