In march 2009, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter proposed raising the city's 7 percent sales tax rate 1 percent. The mayor says this will be a temporary three-year tax and would help avert further budget cuts in city services. WHYY's It's Our City sent Monica Sellecchia to talk with a few Temple University students about whether they even knew what the city sales tax rate was and whether they would be willing to pay more.
