The spray with the stream like is no good (L). The misty injection is evenly distributed and burn more efficiently (R).

The pattern is to prevent the intake valves from forming carbon deposits on them. Mazda and Ford got the design right. VW and Audi on the other hand is a different story.

Can someone please tell me if I'm correct that the first is a direct injector and the 2nd is a port injector?..

I'm confused. I thought the Skyactiv was direct injection... Can you explain the difference a little more please to those of us who aren't injector pro's. I'm not a fan of the spray pattern from the Skyactiv. What's up with that? Doesn't look healthy at all.
