You commentary has no scientific backup!
Do you know why drugs act in our brain?
Because there are chemical regulations. There many different neurotransmitters which docks at specific receptors on the neurons.
And if this regulations are disturbt, it will come to accordingly disorders.
Of course there are also many other reasons for psychotic diseases.
But chemical reasons can be one cause.

Although I disagree with a Pav-stimulus as an all-out defense response. This is saying that behavior (somewhat) cannot be adjusted. The brain has plasticity and can be changed from age twenty to twenty-five. Pavlov's tests were not congruent with human tests. Neurons (species to other species) are quite different, in essence.

Not always. Soldiers have been known to go without food for more than two weeks and still able to reason. Also there have been those suffering from food shortage for twenty+ days and able to respond to stimuli at even high-levels.
Depends upon the individual, I think.
Peace.
