I was halfway through reading his book "Second Lives". Came online to read more about him and learned about his death. His melancholic musings in the book seem extra poignant now.

Drug addict, sheltered by a ton of money...goofing off in Second Life. The only reason he sold articles on SL is because its a subculture that most people dont understand, and reporters keep repeating the same tired crap.
SL is 50% sex and BDSM, 15% furries, 10% political whackos, and the rest from Brazil, Italy, and Europe in their own silly crappy subcultures within SL. Most of them spam giggling baby noises and crappy "freebie" emotes and wear gaudy clothes from FreeDove shop. Useless corpse
Haven't read his book, but I loved his columns in Edge magazine. Was recently looking to see if he had a Twitter account or a blog. All I could find were book reviews, and whiney 15 year olds complaining about how often Tim Guest wrote about SL in Edge. One of the reasons I decided not to get a subscription to Edge (aside from the high cost since I'm across the pond) was that his columns seemed to stop appearing. Downloaded a sample of Second Lives from Amazon. Will probably get the ebook.
Been reading the book right now. it came at a crucial time for me, as I'd stopped playing Second Life after the death of an online friend. The book has helped put it in perspective.

Just read his excellent book 'My Life in Orange' and was supremely sad to hear he had passed away what a loss

@CalicoatMaker Sounds to me like bitter jealousy. Sold many fly fishing articles lately?

@CalicoatMaker I knew Tim and he was a lovely man. Your anger is useless ..... his life was not and is missed.

I read Second Lives on the plane home from the U.S. Tim makes some valid and interesting points in this book.
