It saves more gas to add hybrid technology to larger vehicles. This is why hybrid buses are beginning to pop up everywhere. There are MASSIVE fuel savings in implementing hybrid technology in them. 3 mpg and 5 mpg w/ hybrid tech are stats I recall seeing somewhere on the net. I don't need to do the calculations I did earlier for you to see that that is a huge amount of fuel saved.
You can look at it another way. This is where the "fuel consumed per distance traveled" is better way to think about it than "distance traveled versus fuel consumed".
An full size SUV consumes more fuel than a midsize sedan. In an example, let's assume an SUV gets 10 mpg, a sedan 20 mpg. The SUV consumes 23.5L/100km, the sedan 11.8L/100km. An improvement of 50% means that the SUV will consume 15.7L/100km, the sedan 7.9L/100km. The DIFFERENCE for the SUV is 7.8L, the sedan 3.9.
I can see we disagree in opinion but that's your perogative. No need to call anyone an "idiot". It's just a discussion and I'm sure you wouldn't want to face me man to man and in person. Peace.
Maybe I was a little harsh in the term "Idiot", I do apologize. But opinions aside, there are facts to back up my statement. Next time do a little research.
Apology accepted but its still my opinion over the matter. This SUV is still overpriced for what you can get. Unfortunately, the Japanese once again will beat us Americans to the market with mass production of fuel cell autos just like they have a great head start with fuel efficient hybrids. Feel free to provide or share with this forum of your researched facts. I'm sure we'll all be better for it. Peace.
