What a beautiful song. It's so sad.

Many teens and even adult men and women have unprotected sex with someone they do NOT know personally sometime in their life! With the deadly STDs that are around this is so dangerous. WHEN I first heard this song, I knew it was about a victim who had AIDS! Life is too short to go unprotected!

when i was 3 i thought this was about my dad cuz his name is jon and thats when my parents split up

Sandy Knox wrote the song about her brother who died from AIDS

All I can say is this is a beautifully done song and it is one that says a whole lot about what we should do and not do. Reba is my all time favorite since the first tme I heard her sing. Talent and Beauty hope to hear from her for a very long time. This realy is an amazing song period.

In all honesty, his name was probably "Trashman."
-.-
That is why she wrote the song. She sang it during the AIDS quilt display. If you listen to the song its about going to party "too much wine, left his bed at dawn", and having unprotected sex with someone she thinks name was John, and is now dying "she wont know love, have a marriage, let a stranger kill her hopes & her dreams". Reba wrote this song for the AIDS campaign and quilt demo years ago. I was there I live right outside DC. Hope that helps clarify.
