Mark Griffin aka MC 900 Ft Jesus, with turntables by the great DJ Zero. Taken from the unclassifiable, brilliant album "Hell With the Lid Off" from 1989.

  • Power saw? Nope. Never happened. I did have one ass-kickin' prop in the early days, though. It was a bonafide straight jacket, not from a costume shop, but the real deal. Me and Zero were on our way to the UK for some live dates, without a real concept for a live show. Backing up a bit, I'd just signed to Nettwerk. I had an EP out on my own label: Gonga, never intending to do live shows. Now I had a record deal and live shows were inescapable. Remember, MC 900 FT JESUS was solely a vinyl concept

  • @900heyzeus I've got footage of that from your Trees show in...uh...1990? It's on VHS, I have yet to figure out how to convert it properly to digital. Soon, hopefully.

  • Use to play this to death!. Got the 12 and the album.

    "Give-give-give me faith- faith".

    Nice post.

  • @Kevexation Yeah! I'm making a karaoke version using the instrumental very soon.

  • I grew up in Texas and I bought this when it first came out. They used to play this song at Numbers night club in Houston and we would go friggin nuts. Excellent music.

  • i'm sure BECK was jerking off to this.

  • @900heyzeus i think i might have some of the hell bank notes given out after escaping the straight jacket @ the first of two times you played at our club night in san jose at a converted pussycat theater way back in the bahdy blahdy blah! quite memorable. really glad that those shows were inescapeable because you left us feeling quite inspired ps. timmy thomas rules

  • wow! Youtube is great! I never thought I'd see this video again.... One night I fell asleep with the TV on. Half awake, I heard this video playing on some music video show. All I remember were his teeth... and of course the song. This was in the late 80s... it was kind of hard to find the album. The guy at the mall record store thought I was joking when I said,"do you have Mc 900 foot Jesus with DJ Zero Hell with the Lid off?"

  • everytime a great track this grenade....jeeeeesuuuuuuus!!!!

  • @pyenapple i'll be glad to take care of it... pay for s/h to my vhs->dvd->youtube and then send the original back to you, hit me up with any questions, do this professionally and glad to help = rock on
