In 2004 UC Irvine professor Donald McKayle asked the members of our faculty to choreograph one song from Duke Ellington's River Suite. It was presented with the full UCI Symphony and Jazz orchestras. My song was "Riba," an African word for River. I choreographed a tap dance, that was a river of rhythm. This was a fun tap number, and my UCI tap dancers did a great job with it.
