Living in the present is one of my biggest challenges as an INFJ too. I identified so much with what you said about it! If I'm giving a presentation or something in front of a crowd I go on "autopilot." Or even just sitting in the back of a room I still retreat into my head. I love my mind, but I wish I could better navigate out of it into the real world when I needed/wanted to.

I could have sworn I was INFJ previously, but now I've come to realize I'm ENFJ. and I love it! I feel bad for ni-doms :( haha love you VickyJo <33

I like how you organized what you had to say! :)
There are far too many MBTI videos of people who take long pauses and say few interesting things

I was told I was an INFJ by myers-briggs. I wanted to believe it because it would be cool to be so rare. But the facebook personality quiz sounded so much more like me, which I ignored because ISFP simply wasn't as rare. But I've accepted it and I am perfectly fine to have ISFP preferences...the artist :)

I hope you don't mind that I downloaded this video. I just find it would be so helpful in getting my friends to understand us.

It's interesting how you said you knew you were different. We really all need to learn to understand each other. It should be mandatory. Perhaps they should begin it in elementary school.

it's so sad that you still struggle with this introversion. very sad to hear it.

I can so relate to this discussion.

This is so weird, when you started talking about having 'all the cards' like friendly and generally a happy person but never having a super close friend, i have always struggled with that i feel left out, but yet this video has helped me realize im not alone in my thoughts and what not.

I actually used to think I was introverted because I have dominant intuition which makes me very introspective and need time to sort things out (I'm ENFP). the thing that gave it away that I was E was that I have a tendency to talk way too much (which I've gotten better about), my Te is actually really strong and my Si is horrible. I can barely sense my way out of the door
Well the personalities can change depending on the individual, its not set in stone. Ever since I started college I am bouncing between INFJ and INSJ. It just depends on how you are perceiving and what adaptations you've made for yourself. Its not set in stone, I just think personality typing is fun but we can't just write ourselves off of internet tests. Only you know you, I would hope.

@Rinsuki I quite emphatically disagree. I would not be a type practitioner if I thought type could change on the half hour. What we know is that one's response to the assessments can change -- but the type pattern itself is stable. Which is why I do self-discovery in my coaching practice of teaching people the models so they can find their pattern themselves, and not just rely on a test or a facilitator to tell them. Knowing thyself through type is among the most powerful things there is. :-)

I didn't say that quickly but the change for me was from middle school to college so it didn't happen overnight. I'm just saying that it does change sometimes and not stay the same. Only you would know yourself and not a test. Checking it out for yourself that is what I mean.

@Rinsuki I thiiiiink we're in alignment, but I'll reiterate just to be sure:
the results of any type test can change (and often does), but the type pattern itself is innate and perpetual. It may be hard to discover that pattern, especially when we're young and haven't lived life very much yet. Nevertheless, it is present at our core, and we may discern it accurately with persistence and accurate information about the models.
I hope that matches what you mean. :-)

Don't you think it is kind of a contradiction to say that people are being mistyped, and then to refer to your type as a preference? If it is actually possible to think that you are one type, and then to naturally be another type, then how is that a preference at all? That sounds to me like nature. I don't prefer to be an INTP, I am one because I naturally get my stimulation and energy from my Ti and Ne. I wouldn't trade it for the world, but I certainly didn't choose it.

@Adymus You may be defining the term "preference" to mean "whimsy," as if it's a "preference" for chocolate or vanilla.
Preferring my right hand won't preclude me from using my left hand OR mean I can't become adept with my left hand should I need to. Yet I see myself as right handed; I was born that way; I didn't choose it.
I invite you to revisit your definition of the term "preference," & adjust it so it means something different with regard to type.
