In this Short Circuit Jeri shows how to use the 74hc5555 for long delay triggering. The example circuit uses an IR photo transistor for trigger input.

  • Thanks for the video Jeri. I'm looking for a way to have an LED array come at dark (got that figured out) but, then, only stay on for X hrs. It would have to be hours though... not minutes or seconds. Would this 7HC5555 do the trick? Thanks.

  • More fives the better... hahaha. That's funny. Wonder what she was going to use the 555 timers for? I have a little RadioShack book with 555 timer projects in that I bought when I was a youngin'. I still use some of those circuits in projects.
