if your computer sounds like you have a disc in the dic drive and you dont your h is bad and should be replaced also if ou get crystal disc info and it says you have a bad hd replace the hd dont leave it in i left mine in for like 2-3months after lerning it was dyeing now its bad and i have to take it in for rpares

i have a 160 gb maxtor that makes a sound JUST LIKE THAT! I slammed it on the floor by accident though while it was powered.... It doesn't even spin now. :(

That disk is long gone. The spindle is unable to spin at all, either due to head stiction (heads are stuck to the platters) or the spindle motor itself jammed (bearings?).
Okay, now to a hard drive question. I have an older 4-gig drive, that will sometimes produce a *k-Shunk!* sound, then merrily go about its business. Backup time?

Im hearing some sort of scraping in my hard drive. It isn´t so loud, and it doesnt affect the computers running. So is it dangerous? To my computer, i mean.

ya i recommend that u backup all your data. That hard drive will be crashing in a few weeks months etc etc.
