so... it's supposed to have a story:

He stumbled through the dark halls of his Baton Rouge home, his prosthetics still to difficult to maneuver.

The walk to the kitchen was a bitter battle, but better he get used to the feel of his new legs now so as not to stay immobile forever.

When he made it to the kitchen, he opened the refrigerator, bending down and his hand extending straight towards the cold beer he knew would be there. Grabbing the beer's cold casing, Ray pulled back, twisted the cap of the bottle, and made to close the door. But something familiar caught the corner of his eye; a familiar smile that, though he hadn't seen in so long, stayed vivid and fresh in his mind.

It was Neela, parting her lips in a smile for a picture Morris was so insistent on taking. Ray's own face smiled back at him, and he couldn't help but notice how genuinely happy he was, one arm raised in a toast and the other wrapped around Neela.

Neela.

He missed her. With everything within him he missed her. With that one picture, all memories he had of her, all that he had so long fought to keep back, came rushing back in a fierce blur. From the significant to the seemingly mundane, he saw all the wonderful moments they had shared.

He regretted having left her as he did, sullen and completely cold. He wanted her, for that one instant, to feel the way he had all those years. He wanted her to believe that he didn't love her anymore. He wanted her to believe that he had finally moved on...

But he hadn't. He loved her just as much as he always had, and nothing was going to change that. Taking one last long look at that picture, he decided, perhaps it was time for him to go back home.

forgive the little snippet if it's a little awkward. i wrote it a few short minutes.
